City centre west Stadt Bergisch-Gladbach

Starting from the Konrad-Adenauer-Square, the main road runs in east and west direction. As the city's "backbone" she receives a uniform design and links the urban quarters in both directions.

The pavement is framed by a revolving pre-zone on the outside. This design principle is continued in the adjacent side streets and consistently led from the inside to the outer limits of the centre.
The split of the linearly guided pedestrian area defines both, the urban core area as well as its limits. At these borders - quasi the end points of the pedestrian zone - the pre-zone expands space-like and defines the pavement of the city entrance.

Along the northern border, the city centre currently provides a largely unattractive image. The streets Gohrsmühle and Schnabelmühle represent a barrier due to the high volume of traffic. The already planned reorganization measures of the street, pursue the object of a green marked city boulevard. This ties in with the current draft and provides tree-lined parking spaces for the rearward open space north of the road. Relatively low manufacturing costs also allow temporary solutions, because long-term a structural consolidation of the town edge is desirably, along the city boulevard.

Located adjacent to the Konrad-Adenauer-Square the garden of the Villa Zander owns a city spatial meaning that must be strengthened. The garden is open towards the city: the draft envisage a peripheral seating edge made of natural stone instead of today's high boundary wall.
